// Our Story

StrategyCore K.K. started in Tokyo in October 2001, just as the enterprise technology market was turning. The post-bubble decade had pushed local enterprises to rethink their IT strategy, and the client-server wave was opening real opportunities for foreign software vendors, as long as they had a way to operate here. Our first engagement was market research consulting with Mizuho Research Institute, helping enterprise application vendors who wanted into Japan but had neither the cultural fluency nor the local presence to do it alone. That gap, between a strong product and a working local operation, is still the problem we solve.

Since 2001 we have moved with every major shift in enterprise technology, from client-server and CRM distribution, to supply chain and business intelligence, to big data infrastructure and real-time analytics, and now to AI, machine learning, agentic AI, and digital transformation. That track record came from delivering results in a market that does not hand out second chances. Each vendor relationship existed for one reason: the vendor needed a local layer it could not build fast enough on its own.

StrategyCore has worked in Japan and across APJ since 2001, and today the focus sits on three domains: AI, the real-time data infrastructure underneath it, and cybersecurity. We adopted AI early and use these tools across our own business, which keeps us honest about how enterprises here actually evaluate and adopt them. The portfolio is deliberately narrow. We carry only what our own engineers can support, we keep the products from overlapping, and we let the results make the case.

Representative Director & Managing Director

LinkedIn

Rob founded StrategyCore K.K. in Tokyo in 2001 and has led it for 25 years, building the operational layer between international technology vendors and Japanese enterprise buyers. Over the same period he has started other technology ventures in Japan.

He takes global vendors into the market from first introduction to signed enterprise contracts, running the sales, presales engineering, and customer success himself rather than handing it to a distributor. He works in both languages through the relationship-building and procurement norms that stall most foreign vendors in Japan, and has focused StrategyCore where that groundwork matters most: data engineering, AI, and cybersecurity. He is based in Tokyo.
